MACULAR DEGENERATION TREATED BY BRACHYTHERAPY
For the first time in Switzerland, Professor Marc de Smet, ophthalmologist at Clinique de Montchoisi, has treated a patient suffering from age-related macular degeneration (ARMD) using brachytherapy. The Ophthalmology Centre is the only centre in Switzerland and among the first in Europe to offer this type of treatment.
This Swiss first was made possible through close collaboration between doctors and physicists at the Multidisciplinary Oncology Institute at Clinique de Genolier, whose radio-oncology department is led by Professor Bernier, and Professor Marc de Smet's Retina and Inflammation Unit, located at Clinique de Montchoisi.
